Dove Self-Esteem Workshop
Friday, April 30, 6-11 p.m., YMCA on Tennyson Parkway
This is the second year that Custer Road UMC Children's Special Events and Care presents the Dove Self-Esteem Workshop to teach growing girls that they are beautiful. A guest speaker facilitates the event and provides a fun, educational time. In addition, there will be hambugers and hot dogs for dinner and volleyball, rock-climbing, ping-pong, pool table games, yoga and more. The workshop is for third, fourth and fifth grade girls and their mothers, guardians or female mentors. The cost is $40 for each pair; the workshop is limited to 35 girls.

Bullying Prevention Seminar
Wednesday, May 26, 7-9 p.m., rooms B2 and B6
The Children's Ministry, with The Turning Point, is sponsoring this seminar to show parents and kids how to recognize the forms of bullying, to suggest means through which bullying can be stopped or prevented, and teaches ways through which kids and parents can receive help if bullying has occurred. Kids learn through an interactive presentation how to safely and effectively walk through each aspect of bullying in hopes to prevent and lessen its reality. Parents learn how to effectively engage their kids regarding this topic. Cost is $20. Contact Debbie Pomponio, ext. 235.

Beat the Heat on Ice
Thursdays, June 17 and July 8, 11 a.m.-noon
Try and “beat the heat” at The ICE at Stonebriar Centre for broomball and ice skating and have fun with your friends. The cost of $7 includes skates. Adults need to remain on-site. Registration is coming soon.
(This used to be the Fun Skate, but we've changed the times and venue because Thunderbird Roller Rink closed down!) 
 
 
SEEK Week
July 6-9, 9 a.m.-noon
SEEK (Science Exploration for Elementary Kids) Week will allow children who have completed kindergarten through fourth grade to observe demonstrations and participate in hands-on science experiments while learning about God’s creation. Lessons provide exploration of light, atmosphere, plants, the solar system, water, animals and humankind. The cost is $60. Contact Cheryl Bishop, ext. 253.

Let’s Have Tea
Thursday, July 15, 2-5 p.m.
Put on your tea party finest and come for an afternoon tea and the movie Alice in Wonderland. Join Sheila Williamson as she creates an exciting get-together for the girls. Cost is $10 per girl, for kindergarten through second grade. Registration is coming soon.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Someone's Cooking in the Kitchen
Monday, July 26, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Learn to cook a summer meal, have lunch, then watch Finding Nemo. Have fun with your friends as we talk about the Bible passages from Matthew 18:12-14, the parable of the lost sheep. Cost is $15 per child, for kindergarten, first and second graders.

Someone's Cooking in the Kitchen
Tuesday, July 27, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Learn to cook a summer meal, have lunch, then watch Chicken Run. Have fun with your friends as we talk about Bible passages from Exodus 20:16 on telling the truth. The cost is $15 per child, for third, fourth and fifth graders.
