Youth Ministry's Basic Premise:
Outreach, Fellowship, Disciplesip, Mission and Worship
Custer Road Youth Ministry is called CRUMY (an acronym that describes the "funnest" place on earth) because, well, it's just fun. Ours is a Christ-centered and purpose-driven ministry to students in grades 6-12 and college, founded on five biblical purposed described in The New Testament. the purposes are summarized in Jesus' words:
The Great Commandment: Jesus replied, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind." This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself." (Matthew 22:37-39)
The Great Commission: "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." (Matthew 28:19-20a).
The five biblical purposes are: Outreach-(evangelism, telling others about God's love for them), Fellowship-(experiencing God's love through God's people), Discipleship-(becoming more like Christ through prayer and study), Mission-(expressing our love for God by loving our neighbors), and Worship-(experiencing God's love through direct interaction with God).
For more information contact Rev. John Baldwin at ext. 227.
Our three ministry touch points:
EXPERIENCE: The more we come into contact with the God of creation (the more we experience God), the more we fall in love with God. We believe that the best ways to experience god are worship (direct interaction with God) and fellowship (hanging out with the family of God).
EXPLORATION: The more we fall in love with God, the more we want to know God. We believe the best ways to get to know God are Bible study and prayer.
EXPRESSION: The more we find out about God, the more we want to share our experiences of and love for God with others. We express our love by doing good for others (missions) and telling them about God's love for them (outreach).
Mission Trips
Middle School: Our sixth graders spend several days in June working hands-on at local missions. They may work at the Samaritan Inn, God's Food Pantry, CITY House or wherever God calls them to serve locally. This allows them to experience serving others, while still having fun and fellowship together.
Our seventh and eighth grade students spend five days in June at Hill country Community Ministries (HCCM), a non-profit coalition of churches serving a 300-square mile area in Williamson County. since 1983, HCCM has provided emergency food and assistance to those who wrestle wtih loss of job, poverty, aging, disability, and family disruption. They serve their clients with a food pantry, clothes closet, Easter blankets, school supplies, and much more. CRUMY was named HCCM's Youth Volunteer Group of the Year in 2006!
