Only 5% of Americans donate blood, but over 50% will need a blood transfusion in their lifetime! Approximately 32,000 pints of blood are used each day in the United States. This is the most prolonged period of a critical blood shortage in recent history.
Here’s how YOU can help.
Carter BloodCare will have two donation buses in front of the Church from 8 am until 1 pm on Sunday October 24. If you are 16 years of age, with parental approval, or 17 or older, in good general health, and weigh at least 110 pounds, you should be a good candidate. There is no wait time for donating blood after receiving any of the Covid-19 vaccines. See below for mask requirements.
The following guidelines apply:
Sign-up online https://ww3.greatpartners.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/118992 . Walk-ins will still be accepted, but you may have a longer wait time.
You are encouraged to download the Carter BloodCare Mobile app https://www.carterbloodcare.org/quickscreen/. You can go to this app to answer pre-screening questions on the DAY OF THE DRIVE ONLY.
Only five donors will be seen per hour per bus.
No masks required for vaccinated donors (honor system), although all are encouraged to wear a mask. Staff will continue to wear masks.
You must have a valid ID.
Remember to eat a healthy meal prior to donating.
If you are not available on the 24th, please consider donating at a Carter BloodCare facility in your area. Tell them you attend CRUMC. Our Sponsor # is 020298.
Contact Marlo Johnson at firstname.lastname@example.org or 214-549-7680 if you have questions.
