Small Groups at Custer Road UMC exists to be transformation-driven. This is an opportunity to provide space for the participants to wrestle with the particularities of their lives, and to pursue Christian practices of prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness communally together.

Small Group Leaders

The meeting for Small Group Leaders will be on August 14th at 8:30am in B5.

This training is for small group leaders for the year of 2022-2023. We will cover materials such as healthy group dynamics, group gathering structures, offering hospitality, and commitments we will make as leaders of small group.

Q 1. When does the small group start?
A1. Small Groups will begin on August 21!

Q 2. How will I be grouped?
A2. We will carefully look at your interest form and accommodate your schedule and needs the best we can!

Q 3. How big will be the size of the group?
A 3. For a group to be sustained strongly, we believe that we need at least 6 families/individuals per group.

Q 4. What is the class going to look like?
A 4. However you make it! Though, we do ask that you abide by the member covenant. One of the first things that you will do as a group is to sign the member covenant together.

Q 5. What will our first class look like?
A 5. Each member will sign the member covenant, determine logistics such as time and place to meet, etc.

Q 6. Who is going to be the leader of our group?
A 6. In each class, we have a list of roles you can share so that a group can meet effectively. However, there will be two leaders or leader families that will be in closer contact with the pastor.

Q 7. When is the leaders’ training?
A 7. Small Groups leader training will be on 8/14 in room B5 at 8:30am.

Q 8. How are the small groups different from the Sunday School classes?
A 8. They are similar in that they both are community-based groups. But they are different in that small groups do not necessarily meet on Sundays, their commitment lasts only a year, and they operate with the member covenant.
