Join fellow church & community members for a day of prayer
Beginning at 7 am, there is a specific topic provided each hour to pray for. There are prayers provided below or you can pray as The Spirit moves you. This pattern will continue each hour from 7 am to 7 pm. Prayer subjects include broad areas such as prayers for our mission field, but also include personal prayer areas such as forgiveness and healing.
The objective is simple: to unite ALL of our voices as ONE during the National Day of Prayer so that we are praying together, praying for each other and praying with passion.
2021 NATIONAL PRAYER FOR AMERICA
Lord, we look up and see the billions of stars You created, and we praise You. We look around and see the billions of people You created in Your image; uniquely, fearfully, wonderfully, and we thank You. Wrap us in Your Spirit and unite us in Your family, Lord. Thank You for loving us first. In Your love for the whole world, You sent Your Son to save us. Jesus, in You alone we have abundant and everlasting life. Thank you for teaching and leading us to love and live, fruitful, and faithful. In Your life, death, resurrection, and ascension You are our Lord, our love, our life, and our liberty. You came to “bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to captives and freedom to prisoners.” You have freed us from the penalty and shame of our sin; free to live life as You designed and Your destiny for our Nation. Spirit search us, convict us, as we repent for our sin and the sins of America. Please cleanse, fill, and send us. We rejoice, knowing that Your forgiveness makes us acceptable and effective vessels for Your love, life and liberty in our family, church, education, workplace, military, government, art, entertainment, and media. We pray that America will be united in love to serve You with all our hearts, all our ways, and all of our days. Unite us to pray, love; to live and walk by the Spirit. Conform and transform us as we pray and proclaim, “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” We pray this is the name of Jesus, Amen.

Heavenly Father, we lift up our home, Custer Road United Methodist Church, to You in prayer. For over 40 years, Custer Road has been meeting as one body of believers. We have worshipped You within walls that no longer exist at 6601 Custer Road as well as walls that remain standing. Classrooms have transitioned between nurseries to prayer rooms from meeting space to offices. Land has been bought and land has been sold. Throughout it all, You, God, have been present. You have been present in baptisms, weddings, and funerals. In choir tour home performances, Christmas cantatas and ordinary Sunday services. You have blessed us abundantly and we offer You our thanks and praises.
As Custer Road United Methodist Church transitions from a covid-pandemic world and the necessary restrictions, cover us in Your protection. Bless us with Your presence as more people return to the Sanctuary and meet once again within these walls. Show us the right path to travel as we try to help others know the love of Jesus Christ. Guide us into a future that honors You. In Your Precious Name, I pray. Amen.
Father God, we bring to you a prayer for our ministers who serve at Custer Road United Methodist Church. We lift us specifically Rev. Kory Knott, Rev. Jack Gibson, Rev. Tim Morrison, Rev. Sharon O’Connor, Rev. David Rangel, Rev. Danielle Kim and Rev. Jack Wallace.
We know Lord that you called them into ministry and we offer our thanks they have been placed here at Custer Road UMC. Cover them in Your love. Speak into their hearts. Sustain them in Your arms. Let their words, actions and presence inspire each of us to follow You always. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Lord, we lift up every member of Custer Road United Methodist Church in prayer. We ask for your blessings in each of their lives. Give them peace when difficulties arise. Give them faith when doubts linger. Give them hope when despair looms.
Remind each of us of our promise to serve Custer Road with our prayers, our presence, our gifts, our talents and our witness. Show us how we can all work together to further Your kingdom. May each of us feel passionate about honoring You. Amen.
Abba, hear our prayer. We live in a world that has forgotten You. We live in a time in which people say that You don’t exist. We see those around us living without You and we know the truth. They will never find what they are searching for because what they desperately need is You and Your love in their lives.
Allow us to take the message out into our community. You are real and You have not forsaken us. Show us where we need to speak, where we need to serve, and where we need to show Your love to those who need it the most. Let Custer Road be a beacon far and wide of a church that is serving you each day by serving others no matter who they are or what they believe. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
Dear God, we feel wounded and betrayed. We are left brokenhearted by the actions of those around us. By words that cut like a knife and from silences that make us feel abandoned. Lord, help us to forgive those that trespass against us. Let us not just forgive others, but fully forget the transgression. Help us heal and rejuvenate and move forward so that the past is not haunting today.
But Father, we are never innocent. Please magnify the places and situations in our lives where we have been the transgressor. Show us where we have sinned and give us the courage to ask others for the special gift of forgiveness. Allow us to feel Your love and Your grace in these difficult situations. We know that You forgive us when we earnestly confess to You. Let us accept that forgiveness and lean into your beautiful gift of endless mercy. Amen.
