Day Four

1 Chronicles 29:11-13 (NIV): “Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours.  Yours, O Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all.  Wealth and honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things.  In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all.  Now, our God, we give you thanks, and praise your glorious name.”

This was David’s Prayer after receiving abundant and generous freewill offerings of gold, silver, bronze, iron and precious stones from the leaders of the ancestral houses of the Hebrew people for the building of the temple. The verse before this prayer says that the people gave without compulsion and rejoiced when they gave.

When we first committed this scripture to memory through our Crown Bible Study, it began to resonate in each aspect of our lives. We recognized that God is the creator and owner of all things and it transformed our entire perception of all things. We evaluated all areas of our life to let God reclaim the material items, our home, our jobs, our family and even His money. It was actually more than a blessing to transition our belief and attitude to acknowledge His ownership of ALL things.  Our hearts rejoice in connection with David’s prayer as we continue to give freely and wholeheartedly to the Lord for His kingdom and be ALL IN to the ministry at Custer Road UMC.

Dear Lord, Thank you for reminding us through David, that you are the creator and owner of all things.  We admit that it is difficult at times to let go of control and even recognize how this affects our relationship with you. Please forgive us and continue to be with us to guide us along this journey as we grow in our faith and commitment to you. Help us to be ALL IN with all areas of our life and create a joyful heart within each of us. We pray all of these things in your Son’s name. Amen.
