Holy Smoke Men’s Talk

Caliber is a community where men are united together and can grow in their faith and grow in their roles within their families, their work, their church and throughout their community.

Guys – do you like barbecue?  Do you like the smell of wood smoke in the AM in the Fall?  Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be a competition barbecue cook?  Do you like hanging out with other guys and eating barbecue from a competition barbecuer?

Well, we have a treat for you.  On Saturday, October 27, at 10:30AM, Custer Road’s own Mark Orland of Westside BBQ will be sharing what it’s like to be a competition barbecue cook.  Mark and his family have been members of Custer Road for over 20 years and he’s translated his love of barbecue into competitions where he has been competing for 6 years in the International BBQ Cookers Association in Texas.

Come learn about:

  • The BBQ Competition Process
  • Preparation of different cuts of meat
  • Tips and tricks for your smoking
  • Recipes and other processes you can use at home

Afterwards, Mark will be serving up a barbecue lunch during which we will be holding the “Holy Smoke Men’s Talk” where you will hear some testimonials from other Custer Roads’ men on their faith journey in a Ted’s Talk format.  This is a great opportunity to hear from other guys at church with their own journeys – for Men, by Men.

We still have slots available for speakers — if you would like to share your own 5 to 10 min testimonial, please reach out to Terry Chevalier at tschevalier@gmail.com (214-620-1199).
