Local School Ministry Mentors Still Needed

Custer Road United Methodist Church has committed to intentionally building trusted relationships in CRUMC’s neighborhood through a partnership with local schools. We are collaborating with Christie and Thomas Elementary Schools where we have 63+ mentors.

Both schools could still use ten more mentors each and have a real need for male, bilingual, and African-American individuals.

The school administration has identified Student Mentoring as one of the key areas to promote the growth of student achievement for the students at these schools. As Title 1 schools (focused on improving the achievement of the disadvantaged), they are in need of individuals who can spend time with children during their lunch and recess time. 30 minutes to an hour, once a week is all that is needed. No special training is needed, only a desire to intentionally build a relationship with a student.

If you have any questions, please contact Pam Morgan via email at p1morgan1@verizon.net. Pam will let you know what steps need to be done to mentor.
