A major milestone for our family

Dear Church Family,
Earlier this week, Jennifer and I dropped our oldest daughter off at her first ever summer camp where I wasn’t working as a counselor or as part of the church staff. She’s enjoying a parent-free week at Sky Ranch Christian Camp with several of her friends from school. It’s something she’s been asking to do since participating in one of their Launch Camps three years ago. To be honest, she was probably ready to go to camp by herself a couple of years ago, but Jennifer and I resisted until this year because we weren’t quite ready to let her go. Although it was a little emotional for us driving away from camp after dropping her off, we know she is in wonderful hands, and I am praying that she has a special encounter with God out there among the pine trees of East Texas. Summer camps had a dramatic impact on my life, and I know they will on hers, too.
If you are still looking for some fun things for your kids to do this summer, I’m excited to let you know that Custer Road is hosting a Sky Ranch Launch Camp for grades K-5 right here at Custer Road June 13-17. The camp does all the work. We’re simply providing the location. But I can tell you, it’s something Taylor looked forward to both summers she participated. If you use the code CODE HERE when you register, there’s a $25 discount.
The following week promises to be an awesome one for hundreds of elementary aged kids as we kick off our very own Cave Quest Vacation Bible School. If you’ve never witnessed the excitement and joy these kids have each and every day of VBC week, you are missing out. There’s still a spot for you to serve alongside the kids and we would love to have you. You can register here. If you don’t have time to serve, you can also grab a donation form from the trifold signs just outside the children’s check-in area on the 1st and 2nd floor and bring in some of the items we’ll need to make this week a life changing experience for the kids who will be a part of it.
Please keep the CRUMC youth in your prayers as our middle and high school students prepare for mission and choir tours over the next few weeks. May each student experience an awakening of her or his own faith as they share the love of Christ with others.
Finally, I’m looking forward to hearing Pastor Frank this Sunday as he preaches his final sermon at Custer Road as part of our sermon series “The Third Person”. After the last service, please stop by Fellowship Hall to wish him, Christy, James, Miles and Linus farewell as they head off to Frank’s new appointment as the Senior Pastor at Grace UMC in Sherman, Texas. They have served our church faithfully and will be missed as a part of our church family. I know God has wonderful things in store for the Drenner family as they enter into this new season of life and ministry.
Many Blessings,
