A New Chapter For Us

Dear Church Family,

We are wrapping up the first week of school here at the Knott household, and so far, so good. Jennifer and I dropped the kids off on Tuesday for their first day and all three came home with big smiles on their faces.

This year marks a new season of parenting for us. For the first time, all of our children are in school full-time. For Jennifer in particular, it’s going to be a little strange to have the house quiet for so many hours on the days she works from home. In fact, I’m not sure she even wanted to be at home that first day without ‘Little bit’ there with her. But with this new chapter come new opportunities.

Jennifer is looking forward to having some additional time to focus on things both personally and professionally which have been largely ignored these last 11 years as we have been in the throws of pre-school parenting. As for me, I will be starting year two of my doctorate classes next week.

Speaking of school starting, I’m looking forward to serving for the second year as a mentor at Thomas Elementary. This is such a great way to speak into the life of a child who might be struggling in school either academically or socially. We have a mentor information session coming up September 17 at 10 a.m. in Room 130. I hope you’ll come find out more about how you can be involved in this transformational ministry.

We’ve had a tremendous response to our sermon series “Finding Forgiveness.” I’m excited to conclude the series Sunday, August 28 with a message on how we can work to restore our relationships with one another and move toward true forgiveness.

Looking ahead to Sunday, September 4, international speaker Krish Dhanam is going to bless us by giving his testimony during worship.  Krish was born in India and migrated to the U.S. with his wife in the early 90’s with just $9 in his pocket. He ended up working with the legendary Zig Ziglar and it was there that he learned true success in life. For Krish, success was not found in the realization of the American Dream but in a personal relationship with Christ.

I hope you’ll join us for this powerful worship service and invite a friend who might need to hear the Good News of Jesus.

I look forward to worshipping with you Sunday!
