POWS is gearing up for the upcoming season

In 2018, the Collin County Homeless launched the Plano Overnight Warming Station (POWS).  The purpose of POWS is to provide a safe, warm, and secure place for the homeless to stay overnight when the temperature drops below freezing or there are dangerous conditions which could cause injury or death from exposure.  The site for POWS is The Salvation Army location in east Plano.  The POWS season runs November 1, 2021 through March 2022.

You can visit the POWS website for more detailed information HERE:

Custer Road has had a team for the past 3 years. We currently have 18 people signed up for our team and we would love to have 10-15 more join this year. For anyone who is wanting to join our team, there is a mandatory training and a background check required. The background check form is filled out during the training and conducted after the training session by the Salvation Army.

Training Sessions (only need to attend one) are in August, September, October and November, will be conducted at the Salvation Army of Plano site @ 3528 14th St, Plano, TX 75074 or at Christ United Methodist Church in Plano, and you can sign-up for one HERE via Sign-up Genius

For more information please contact the CRUMC Team Lead Mark Orland or (214) 364-5501.
