Revelation Youth Choir Fundraising
Every summer, the Rev. Tim Morrison and a group of patient “choir moms and dads” take the Junior High (youth in grades 6-8th) and Senior High (youth in grades 9-12th) Revelation choirs on tour. The youth sing in many different venues: churches, hospitals, homeless shelters, children’s homes, etc. It’s a mission which affects those who hear them and the youth participants themselves.
What is REV Earns?
Part of Custer Road UMC’s operating budget supports these trips and the youth and their families are responsible for the remainder of the cost. One of the ways youth earn their portion of the trip is through the Revelation Choir EARNS (Eager and Able to Render Needed Services) Program.
The youth offer services such as babysitting, pet sitting, dog walking, house cleaning, yard work, car washing, holiday help (such as decorating, gift wrapping etc.), chores etc. to Custer Road UMC members for a fee. The suggested rate of pay is a minimum of $8.00 per hour for their work.
REVELATION GIFT CARDS
Purchase Gift Cards and Help Youth Go on Choir Tour!
We’re pleased to share some exciting news about a fundraising program for our Junior High and Senior High Revelation Choirs. It’s called “Scrip”, and it’s the fundraising program that works while you shop.
What is a Scrip Card?
Scrip is simply a word that means “substitute money” – in other words, Scrips are gift cards from national and local retailers. They’re the same gift cards that you buy at the store. Many popular retailers participate in our Scrip program including Target, Amazon, CVS, Starbucks, Pizza Hut, Olive Garden, Home Depot, Lowes, Tom Thumb, Wal-Mart and many, many others. Use them for your regular personal expenses such as: groceries, home repair, appliances, clothes, restaurants, pharmacies, movie theaters, gas, and book stores. Plus, they make convenient birthday, holiday, teacher and special occasion gifts! Everyone love gift cards!
HOW DO SCRIP CARDS EARN MONEY FOR CHOIR TOURS?
Scrip participating retailers agree to sell gift certificates to our organization at a discount. Families like yours buy the gift cards at full face value, they redeem them for full face value, and our choir keeps the difference as revenue. Everybody wins... the retailer gets cash up front and repeat business and you get a powerful fundraising alternative for your students that involves no selling! All funds raised can be credited to the individual choir member’s account or put into a general scholarship fund for other choir members in need. Scrip cards help you earn money for choir tour just by putting your regular household shopping dollars to work.
HOW DO I PURCHASE SCRIP CARDS?
