Born outside of Los Angeles, my family moved to Fort Wayne Indiana when I was very young and I grew up in Ft. Wayne.  I was a member of St. Joseph’s UMC in Ft Wayne participating in the music and youth programs.  Met my future wife (Joanne) at high school while participating in activities within the music department.  We both attended Indiana University in Bloomington, IN (and continue to be big Hoosier Fans).  In 1980, upon graduation from the IU School of Business, I was hired by EDS to work in Des Moines, Iowa and six months later Joanne and I were married and she joined me in Des Moines.  It was the coldest FALL I had ever experienced and our apartment was 50% windows.  We thought it would be beautiful to see all of the outdoors and sunlight – until we realized that we’d be looking at snow and ice formations and that the windows were not double paned.  Within six months we began a series of relocations with EDS:  Within  three months of being married, we moved to Dallas for three years, then moved to Indianapolis, IN for three years where our first two children were born, then we moved back to Dallas for one year, and then on to Marion, IL for three years where our third child was born, and finally we moved back to Dallas in 1991 and joined CRUMC – and have not moved since!   For almost 39 years, and working for three separate companies, I worked in Healthcare IT building administrative systems and solutions for healthcare payer companies (like Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, type companies). Then in 2019, I made a decision to join Custer Road Staff and a whole new world of excitement, learning and energy descended upon me.  I feel as energized as I did when I just graduated from IU back in 1980.

What do most people not know about you? When I was in college, I had my hair curled (an Afro) and in the winter, walking to classes after a morning shower, my curls would freeze – and then melt while I was in class.   I had a lot of “soggy notepads” that winter.

Who has inspired you the most in your life and why?  My father.   He was quiet, steady, grounded, a Christian, good businessman, and a good example of the type of father I hoped to become.
