I remember going to a meeting for a campus Christian group my freshman year of college. I liked the group and the values they stood for. But the meeting was terrible. Seriously. It was just bad, in every way. But I didn’t run from it. I thought, “I want to make this better.” I’ve loved being a part of campus ministries, international missions, and churches, creating new worship experiences, leading music, speaking, building web sites, doing graphic design, and doing photography, all in an effort to engage people in the mission of helping people follow Jesus.
Favorite Scripture: Acts 17:16-34.
Words to live by: This is how you release your reserve chute.
Family members: Lauren Webster, and three red-headed kids.
What do most people not know about you? I’ve been to 19 different countries. But I count one of them twice, since once it was the Soviet Union, and later it was Russia.
Who has inspired you the most in your life and why? It’s really hard to say. My wife inspires me constantly. She has the most generous heart of anyone I know. I’ve also had some really good leaders I’ve served under over the years. They’ve had a remarkable impact on me, and helped me know my strengths and who I am in Christ.
Favorite Children’s Book: Where the Red Fern Grows. Or maybe Danny, the Champion of the World.
Favorite Movie: Just one? Not possible. Star Wars: A New Hope. Raiders of the Lost Ark. Tree of Life. Mad Max: Fury Road. Age of Innocence. The Godfather. Children of Men. I can probably come up with a few more.
Favorite Television Shows: Arrested Development. Everybody Loves Raymond. Lost. Friday Night Lights.
Dream Vacation: Scotland/Ireland/Wales would be fun. Maybe I could go see an old family castle.
First Car: ’84 Corolla. The gas gauge didn’t work. I could get about 260 miles on a tank.
